Hi, I am having trouble deciding between the Grand Floridian and Wilderness Lodge resorts for my 9 year old and me at the end of January. I understand price difference. Transportation seems better at GF. Activities .. ? Suggestions? Comments? Thanks!

    Tom,

These are both really great resorts, and I don't think you will be disappointed with either.

Transportation is a bit easier at the Grand Floridian because it is on the monorail.  It's only one stop away from the Magic Kingdom, and you can ride over to the Transportation and Ticket center to switch trains and ride another monorail to Epcot.  The Grand FLoridian has a very formal feel inside the main lobby, but the rest of the resort is more laid-back and very fun for kids.  There are two great pools, and an arcade that my daughters loved.

Arguably, though, the WIlderness Lodge offers the same fun arcade and beautiful pools.  The lobby is more casual yet still breathtakingly beautiful, as are the rest of the grounds.  And feeling somewhat secluded while still being so close to the Magic Kingdom is a really neat feeling.  You can take a boat to Fort Wilderness, the Contemporary Resort, or the Magic Kingdom, and of course you can ride over to Epcot by switching trains just as you would from the Grand Floridian.

Lots of help, huh?  ;)  My point is that they really both have a lot going for them.  Ultimately the decision should come down to your budget first.  If both are comfortably within your price range, then I'd make the selection based on your personal preference in themeing,  The Wilderness Lodge has a special place in my heart, so that coupled with the lower cost would probably sway me in that direction, but again I think you'll love either one.

    Good luck with your decision!
