We're having my son's 9th birthday dinner at Chef Mickey's. Would ordering a cake be too much cake? I heard they give the b-day child a cup cake and plus they have a cupcake bar. Is there a lit candle in the cup cake?

I had my twins' 6th birthday at Chef Mickey's. We did order them a cake for this event and the cake was 95% uneaten. It was an overload of sugar because there was a full dessert bar with ice cream on tap and they were given free cupcakes by the restaurant -- not to mention the free cupcakes that they had also been given at breakfast and lunch. (In the past there has been a decorate-your-own-cupcake station at Chef Mickey's. I did not see it the last few times I visited there; I'm not sure if this a permanent discontinuation.) One of my girls has a nearly insatiable sweet tooth, but that day even she was turning down more dessert.

While the free cupcake is not guaranteed, it has in the past been standard practice that it is provided. The cupcake we had did have a candle in it as have most of the others that I have seen given out at this restaurant. If you wanted to be absolutely sure to have a candle you could bring one yourself "just in case."

The restaurant was very kind to box the cake for us and we were able to bring it back to our room to have later in our trip.

Hope this helps you make your decision.
