Having hard time choosing a resort in WDW. Need one that offers some of the most convenient transportation (traveling with autistic child). Have looked at Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge. Notice construction at Cont. Do you have any recommendations?

    Allison,

The work at the Contemporary is outside, as they are constructing a new building.  I don't think that it would be a problem for your trip - Disney goes to great lengths to avoid disturbing or inconveniencing their guests.

It's hard to weigh all of the factors involved, but of the two resorts you mentioned I would lean toward the Wilderness Lodge.  The Contemporary can be loud and busy, which might be troublesome for your son.  The main lobby area is currently home to two sit-down restaurants, a quick food location, a gift shop, an arcade, and the monorail runs directly through this area.  You may find it to be overstimulating.

In contrast, the Wilderness Lodge is a relatively quiet and peaceful place.  Most eateries there are offset from the lobby to some extent, and the lobby is not as bustling.  In addition, the grounds are very beautiful and serene.  The only downside for your needs would be that this resort is not on the monorail, so you'd need to take a boat to the Magic Kingdom instead.  Of course this is also a significantly cheaper resort, so with the money saved on a room you could easily afford to take a cab to the parks if the boat proves to be difficult to manage.

If you really need the monorail, I think that the Polynesian or the Grand Floridian either one would be quieter and more calm than the Contemporary.  Both are beautiful resorts and I think you'd be pleased.

    Have a great vacation!
