Seasons Greetings Tamatha!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a true holiday delight. I love all things Christmas and mixing that with Disney is extra magical.
While Disney can make it “snow” on Main Street, U.S.A. during the party, the rest of the weather is out of their hands. The party continues as much as possible even in inclement weather. Generally, refunds or exchanges are not offered for the party, even in bad weather.
I was able to attend the very first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party this year with several of my Disney Parks Moms Panel friends, and the precipitation ranged from a light sprinkle to downright cats and dogs. We simply put on our flip flops and rain ponchos and ventured out to enjoy the party! While some outdoor attractions may suspend operations in bad weather, particularly if lightning and thunder are present, most indoor shows and attractions will still run. I highly recommend Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, which shows a party-exclusive, holiday-themed show! My friends and I were even shown on the big screen as part of the comedy act. Wearing matching shirts and having a friend with purple hair must have got their attention.
We still ate lots of cookies and cocoa, visited characters, and experienced attractions like Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and the Haunted Mansion. While the first showing of the
Once Upon a Christmastime Parade did proceed as normal, due to the severity of the rain, the second parade was canceled.
Minnie's Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks did go off as scheduled and I was lucky enough to have a seat in a covered area thanks to my amazing friends! I think it is now my very favorite of all the Walt Disney World Nighttime Spectaculars, it was that good. Rest assured that Disney will do their very best to continue party activities as much as possible, and we still had a wonderful and festive time at the party.
Wishing you a happy holiday season!
