I have a handicap plaqer for my car, but I can't walk far enough to the gates. Can someone get me a wheelchair and bring it to my car? Or if not can my driver take me to the entrance and drop me off and have a wheel chair waiting? Thank you

    Hi there, Pam!

Welcome to planDisney, and thank you for stopping by to ask us a question as you prepare for your upcoming magical visit. I’m so happy to hear you’re planning a vacation during Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort. There will be so many delightful thrills and chills in store for you at the theme parks this fall!

If you have a valid disabled parking placard or license plate, please follow the posted signs or ask a Cast Member at the toll plazas for the best parking option for you. If a disabled parking space is not available when you arrive, a Cast Member can direct you to a space as close as possible to an elevator at the parking structures or to bus transportation at the Toy Story Parking Area.

When you park in the Mickey & Friends or Pixar Pals Parking Structure, tram service provides transportation to the Main Entrance Esplanade between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Guests with their own mobility devices, such as Electric Conveyance Vehicles (ECVs) and wheelchairs, may also use a complimentary Shuttle Service from the trams. This greatly reduces the walk from the parking structures to the theme parks. At the Toy Story Parking Area, there are buses that provide Guest transportation to the Main Entrance Esplanade, and they can accommodate most standard-sized mobility devices.

However, the only resort location where ECV and manual wheelchair rentals are available is the Stroller Shop located just east of the entrance gates to Disneyland Park. A limited number of ECVs and wheelchairs are for rent on a first-come, first-served basis and they cannot be taken beyond the limits of the two theme parks and the Downtown Disney District. If you don’t think you’ll be able to walk from your vehicle to the tram loading area and from the tram stop near World of Disney to the Stroller Shop to rent a wheelchair, it may be best to bring your own mobility device. There is a Guest pickup and drop-off location on Harbor Boulevard east of the resort, but the walk from there to the wheelchair rental location is even longer than the walk from the tram stop.

It may be helpful to review the complete list of services for Guests with mobility disabilities before your trip. I definitely recommend checking out the list of wheelchair- and ECV-accessible attractions and the attractions on which Guests may be required to transfer from their wheelchair or walk by themselves while enjoying an experience.

I hope this information helps you plan, Pam, and that your visit to The Happiest Place on Earth is full of pixie-dusted moments! Please don’t hesitate to write back with any other questions that may pop up before your adventure begins.

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
