Hello, Patricia! Thanks for sailing by planDisney with your hair-raising question!
I totally understand the struggle...vacation or not, I have a hard time embracing the “beach hair, don’t care” mindset thanks to my naturally frizzy hair. I just got off a Disney Cruise a few days ago, and I was pleasantly surprised by the hair dryer provided in the stateroom.
Each room on the
Disney Dream features a Bentley Europe Levante hair dryer, which you’ll typically find tucked inside a cloth bag marked “HAIR DRYER 220V” in the vanity/desk drawer (not in the bathroom). It’s designed to plug into a special two-prong 220V outlet located at the desk. Here's a planDisney tip: If you accidentally plug it into the standard outlet, the power may feel weak. I did that myself until I realized the difference!
This hair dryer has three speed/heat settings and a cool shot button, so it offers a good amount of control. It also comes with a concentrator attachment. I also bought a universal Hot Sock diffuser on Amazon before our cruise, and it fit perfectly. It worked well enough that I’ve decided to keep it in my travel bag for future trips!
You’re absolutely welcome to bring your own hair dryer if you prefer, just make sure it meets
Disney Cruise Line’s power limits. Some high-powered models (like my beloved Dyson) exceed those limits, so I had to leave mine at home. In my opinion, the provided dryers are better than your average hotel ones, and if your needs are fairly standard, you’ll likely be happy using what’s onboard.
Wishing you smooth sailing and fabulous hair days aboard the Disney Dream, Patricia! If you have any other questions, please sail back to see us. “Sea” ya real soon!
