My guy will be 10 mos old for our Feb WDW vacation. I'm wondering about the level of interaction he can have with the characters. Can they hold him? Bend down to his level ? At a character meal is it best to leave him in a highchair to pose for pics?

Characters are not allowed to hold children. Those big paws can be clumsy sometimes and they wouldn't want any accidents with a child.

Beyond that, you can expect the characters to interact with your son quite a bit. If they are physically able to, they will bend down to get closer to him. When my girls were toddlers, we often had characters kneel down to get closer to them in a stroller. We have some cute photos of Tigger pretending to push my twins when they were in a stroller.

If you are holding your son, the characters will interact with him as much as he seems comfortable with. They will allow your son to pat their nose or ears. They may try to shake his hand or something similar. With the smallest children, the characters are very gentle and will let the parents and child guide them at the appropriate pace.

As for character dining, you should have your son in whatever situation you think will make for the best photo/memory. If you want just the character and the child in the shot, then yes, leaving him in the high chair probably makes the most sense. The character will stand behind or beside the high chair and you can take the photo that way. For family photos, you can take your son out of the high chair (you'll hold him) and all pose together with the character. It is very easy to ask your server or another guest to snap a quick photo of your group.

    Have a great trip!
