Jeff from CA Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

Guests of off property hotels used to be able to cut through the Grand Californian to get to downtown disney and ultimately to the parks quicker. This stopped at one point, but I heard rumors that we're allowed to do this again. Is this true?

Hi there, Jeff. Welcome to planDisney! I'm so glad you came by with your excellent question.

I was at the Disneyland Resort this past weekend, and Guests walking into the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa from Disneyland Drive were being asked by a Cast Member to show their room keys. This was happening as early as 6:00 AM. So it appears that the entrance to Disney California Adventure Park is being reserved for Disneyland Resort Hotel Guests. Guests staying off property are currently able to use the security entrances off Harbor Boulevard and in the Downtown Disney District (located near Din Tai Fung and the Disneyland Hotel).

Jeff, guests are still able to exit California Adventure Park using the Grand Californian Hotel exit near Redwood Creek Challenge Trail and the Paradise Gardens exit by Goofy's Sky School (subject to change and operating hours). If you use the park exit going into the Grand Californian, you can still enter the Downtown Disney District from the hotel (though you would need to go through the security screening process again). Hopefully, this helps!

If you have any more questions on the best route to and from the resort or my favorite way into the parks (Hint: It's the monorail!), please visit us again. I would be happy to help with your planning questions!

    See ya real soon,
