Hi Marcia,
Disney World is built to be accessible to all guests. I love how the attraction queues, restaurants, resort hotels, and common spaces are built to encourage inclusion and accessibility. I recommend reviewing the
updated guide that Disney World recently released for an in-depth look at navigating the theme parks with all types of disabilities.
Whether or not your ECV can make it through the attraction queue will be completely dependent on the ride. Some rides
do not require you to transfer from your ECV or wheelchair to enjoy the full attraction, queue, or ride vehicle. Some rides and attractions
will require you to transfer from your ECV to a wheelchair for the queue or from a wheelchair or ECV to the ride vehicle. These ride vehicles typically are not suited for the size of an ECV or a transfer is required for safety reasons. There are only a few attractions where you
must be ambulatory to ride. Each of the links I provided will have a full list of the rides included in each category. At all locations where you cannot take your ECV, there will be a location to park it while you ride!
If you have not already booked an accessible room at
Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter, you should
call to request it or modify your reservation online if possible. These rooms will be equipped to handle an accessibility device in the room. If you can not get your reservation changed don't worry. You can have them note on your reservation that you will be traveling with an ECV and they will do their best to put you in a room that can accommodate it. This is not guaranteed but they are normally super helpful in ensuring you can park and charge your vehicle in the evening. Check with the front desk when you check in and they will be able to advise you on the best place in your room for fitting and charging your ECV as this is a common concern.
Happy Planning,
Jenna
