Welcome aboard, Donald! It's a landscape of white snow outside my window here in Ohio, right now. I see you're from Ohio too, so if you're like me, you're probably daydreaming about the warm waters of the Caribbean with
Disney Cruise Line right now!
You mentioned GTWY. I believe you're asking about a
stateroom that has GTY listed. This stands for guarantee. At times, when it's getting closer to the sail date and extra staterooms are still available, Disney will offer some stateroom lower prices, guaranteeing a certain category or better. If you choose a GTY stateroom, you're going to pay a lower price than is typical for that stateroom category, but you won't get to choose your exact stateroom number and location. However, you are guaranteed to get a stateroom in that category, or a better category. If you don't mind not choosing your exact stateroom, it can be a great way to save money, and even sometimes end up with a higher category stateroom. My family and I have had great success in booking GTY staterooms twice. We received our stateroom assignments just prior to the cruise each time, and one of those times were pleasantly surprised to have been moved up to the next higher stateroom category.
I wouldn't hesitate to book another guarantee stateroom, and encourage you to do so if you're up for saving a bit of money and if you don't mind letting Disney assign your exact stateroom at a later date.
Please stop back again with any other questions, Donald, as you continue to plan your cruise. We're happy to help!
