Hey Howdy Hey, Ashley!
Welcome to planDisney! I see your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is approaching quickly! Are you ready for a rootin' tootin' good time? I love these final days before a trip as you get to organize all those little details, such as
Lightning Lane passes!
Ashley, there are two types of Lightning Lane passes available - Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. You can begin purchasing both of these products seven days before checking in at hotels in the
Disney Resorts Collection or other select hotels. If you are staying elsewhere, you can begin making your selections and purchases three days before you visit the parks.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass allows you to choose three attractions from a single park to utilize Lightning Lane entrances. Once you redeem your first Lightning Lane entry, you can select an additional attraction based on availability. This "use one, get one" benefit will continue throughout the day as long as available attractions remain. While your initial pre-arrival selections must be from the same park, the additional same-day selections can be from any park if your tickets include the
Park Hopper Option. Lighting Lane Single Pass is a separate à la carte option available to purchase for one or two of the most popular rides in each park. Each Guest can buy up to two Lightning Lane Singe Pass entries per day. All purchases and modifications can be managed before you arrive and during your vacation in your
My Disney Experience Mobile App.
When planning for a group, you'll first want to make sure everyone in your travel party is connected to your
Family and Friends List. Purchasing your Lightning Lane passes at the same time is the best way to ensure that you can enjoy attractions together, but there is no way to split the payment when purchased at the same time. It's also important to note that all initial selections must be the same for everyone in your party when purchasing for the group. After purchase, these selections could be modified (based on availability) if your group wants to experience some different attractions during your day.
You could try to make your selections as separate families when purchasing, but the times may not line up exactly. Since return windows for Lightning Lane entry are an hour long, if two families get a return time of 8:00 - 9:00 and another gets 8:45 to 9:45, you could still enjoy the attraction together by redeeming sometime between 8:45 and 9:00. Since you can see your return times before completing your purchase, you can try to coordinate this way if you'd prefer to purchase separately. When I was in the parks last week, my friend and I purchased our Lightning Lane Single Pass for
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance separately, but we were able to confirm with one another before purchasing that the return window both of us had was the same. However, if you're planning several park days and purchasing Lightning Lane passes for all of them, this may get a bit tricky!
Ashley, I hope this information helps you as you start making those Lightning Lane plans! If you have any other questions, please stop by to see us again here at planDisney!
To Infinity and Beyond!
