My group of 9 is a bringing my 3-yr old niece for her first WDW trip, staying at VBR. We’re concerned about having to charge 9 MB+ in addition to all our phones and electronics each night. Can MB+ function like an old magicband without a charge? Thanks!

Hey there Kelly! It is so good to see you here at planDisney again. Mickey Mouse is all about progress and since 2014, My Disney Experience and MagicBand technology have become commonplace. Now we make sure portable electronic chargers are in our theme park bags. Also,  severe USB charging blocks that have multiple ports travel with us. Each person in my family has a block that supports their MagicBand+, smartphone, and smartwatch to charge nightly. You could also invest in a USB charging tower.

The good news is that your MagicBand+ also uses RFID technology for the essentials and will operate similarly to the old MagicBands to allow you access (if linked) to your Disney Resorts Collection hotel room, theme park entry, Lightning Lane entrances, and Disney PhotoPass interactions should the charge run out during use. You will regain the theme park interaction features such as Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters and the light-up synchronization with nighttime spectaculars when there is enough power.

Now about your niece's first visit. First trips are so special and seeing the magic of Disney through the eyes of a 3-year-old is truly enchanting. Little ones think the little things are big. Little things like riding the Walt Disney World Monorail System or Disney Skyliner, wearing a complimentary "1st Visit" button (get at your resort or Guest Services), riding the Walt Disney World Rail Road, seeing the animals during Kilimanjaro Safaris, and watching the Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade, create core memories.  I know y'all are going to have a blast. Please capture every moment with a Memory Maker.

Kelly, I hope this advice helps keep you charged during your trip to the "Place Where Dreams Come True." Please feel free to visit planDisney again and again for more Disney vacation planning tips.

    Enjoy making many Magical Memories.
