Our group of 6 has 3 adults who will need scooters for our trip to old key west villa. Where do we store the scooters and recharge them ?

    Hi Barbara,

Disney World does such a fabulous job of making its theme parks and resorts accessible to everyone. Renting an ECV is one of the best ways to make theme parks easy to navigate if you have members of your party with physical limitations. Check out the complete Guide for Guests With Disabilities to help plan for your upcoming trip. You have two fabulous options for renting ECVs at Disney World.

You can rent one directly through Disney World at each theme park entrance. These ECVs will only be available for use while you are in the theme parks and can not be taken out of the park and back to your resort. This is a great option if you don't want to have to worry about finding a spot to park and charge your scooter in the evenings. It is not an option if you will need the scooter for transportation back to your resort or while navigating your resort.

The other option is to rent from Disney World's featured provider, ScooterBug. The great thing about renting through this provider is they are the only scooter rental company that can leave your ECV at Bell Services so it is ready and waiting for you when you arrive. If you go this route you will need ample space to store and charge your scooter in the evenings.

Before you arrive, you may want to call and request an accessible room and make sure they note on your reservation that you will be storing 3 ECVs in your room. Accessible rooms will typically have a little more space and be better set up for you to roll your scooter right into your room and plug it in. Disney's Old Key West Resort features some of the largest villas at Disney World which will provide more room for your ECVs to charge in your room without taking away from your lounging space. If you do not have enough room to store them all, you should check in with the front desk and sometimes they will allow you to park them in the hallway and plug them in if it does not block any important exits or walkways. They may also be able to move around some of the furniture to help accommodate your scooters in the room.

Most of the ECVs rented through ScooterBug have a standard plug that can be plugged into any outlet in your room or throughout the resort or theme parks if you start to run out of battery life.

    Happy Planning,
    Jenna
