We have a group of 17, 6 adults and 11 children sailing in January 2014 to celebrate my mother's 70th birthday. Any suggestions of ways to make our celebration memorable?

    Ahoy Terry!
Welcome to the Moms Panel!  Choosing a Disney Cruise for your mom's 70th birthday is a wonderful way to commemorate this very special occasion!  On my past cruises, I have noticed groups celebrating a birthday or anniversary with personalized shirts that everyone wears to board the ship! The ship's photographers will be on hand in the cruise terminal and upon boarding to capture your crew in your matching attire.  I also suggest having something signed by the characters which your mom can have as a keepsake from her birthday cruise.  Two items per stateroom can be dropped off at Guest Services on embarkation day and will be returned by the last night (be sure to include Sharpies or fabric markers in your plastic bag). A photo mat, a wooden letter, a tote bag, a wooden 7 & 0, a  t-shirt, Mickey shaped plate, her favorite Disney book, a large Vinylmation, or even an ornament are all possibilities.  The items I have had signed over the years are some of my favorite souvenirs!
Also, check out the Gift and Amenities Section on the Disney Cruise Line website.  Here you can pre-purchase festive in-room birthday decorations, order a birthday cake (must be done seven days prior to boarding), and purchase Disney Cruise Line themed gifts, wine packages, and flowers!  Guest Services does have birthday buttons so pick one up the first afternoon so she can wear it throughout the cruise.
Be sure your server knows which night you are celebrating because if a cake is not purchased a special dessert will be brought out after dinner.
I'm about out of room, but you may also want to make sure your group gets a family photo before dinner one evening by the ship's photographers. I know your mom will cherish this for sure!
Happy Birthday to your mom from the Moms Panel!
