Hello, this is a great panel. I have already found a lot of tips. My husband and I are taking our 5 yr old Granddaughter to DW Aug 9th thru 14th. We would like to snorkel at the shark reef. Do you think she old enough to snorkel?

    Hi Kathy,

I'm so pleased you like the panel and have picked up some tips, I hope they make your trip magical!

The Shark Reef at Typhoon Lagoon is a great experience and open to all ages although under 10's must be accompanied by an adult. My daughter loved snorkeling when she was 5 but all children are different so what I suggest you do is take your Granddaughter into the viewing area so she can see what she'll be swimming with. Also get her to have a go breathing through the snorkel before you get into the water so she can get used to it, you may also want to warn her that the water will be very cold so it does not come as a big shock. I would also recommend you get her a lifejacket to make her feel safe, these are available free of charge.

Shark Reef is very popular and often has long queues so if you decide to do it I would recommend you visit as close to opening as possible!

I'm sure she'll enjoy it but remember if she decides she does not want to snorkel there is always the "chicken" exit that you can leave by.

    Have a great trip,

    Jo
