Great Q & A!!! We will be arriving 03/21/09. My fam is a more "in the moment" group, and we would rather just eat when the mood strikes us.Without reservations, what are the chances of wondering upon an TS that will be able to take us?

    Hi Marla,

I can completely understand not wanting to pick your dining reservations in advance. Many times it is hard enough for my three picky eaters to decide what they want five minutes from now, much less ninety days from now. Most likely you would be able to find tables open at some locations without reservations. The problem is, the open tables may not be at the locations you would like to dine or a time you would not prefer. If you are open to eating at odd times, like an late dinner, or if you have a large party and are willing to split the group, you will find the chance of a table increases. Some very popular locations, like Cinderella's Royal Table and LeCellier are almost always booked in advance and would most likely not have tables available to walk up guests.

The week of your vacation should be just before the majority of spring breaks, however you will most likely start to see an increase in crowds, which means less open tables. I would suggest making at least one or two dining reservations at your favorite places or places you would like to try. This way you will be sure to get a couple of your first choices for dining. Without advance dining reservations, be prepared to have to choose from available locations and not necessarily your first pick. There are many counter service locations throughout Disney World so consider these spots for "in the moment" dining if there are no other options available. Remember at almost all Disney restaraunts you can cancel your dining reservation at any time without penalty, so you could always book the reservations and then cancel them if your family changes their mind. Good luck with your decision and have a magical trip!
