My grandson will be turning 3 years old on the day we will be visiting Disneyland. Do we need to purchase a ticket and make a reservation for him?

Hey there, hi there, Peter! Welcome to planDisney. We love helping Guests get answers to each and every planning question.

A visit to Disneyland with your grandson is a magical way to create memories, but how special to hear that it will also be your grandson's birthday! All Guests ages 3 and above need a theme park ticket and theme park reservation for entry into the parks. This means if your grandson is turning 3 on the day of your visit to the parks, he will need a ticket and theme park ticket reservation.

I definitely recommend taking your grandson to Mickey's Toontown on your visit. This area is such a fun space for littles to play and get those wiggles out. You'll also find many toddler-favorite attractions through Fantasyland as well.

When I take my kids to the parks for a birthday celebration, I always try to do a little something special. If your grandson likes character interactions, a character dining experience may be a fun way to celebrate. Goofy's Kitchen has a great selection of kid-friendly foods in the buffet. No matter what you plans are for the day, you must stop by City Hall or one of the stores along Main Street and ask for a complimentary birthday button. It's a fun way to feel special and let others celebrate with your grandson.

Peter, thanks so much for stopping by. I hope your grandson has a magical birthday celebration!

Meet the Panelist: Carrie, California

Well hello there, friend! I'm Carrie, a work-from-home mom and military wife who currently calls sunny San Diego home. You'll find my family in the parks braving drops and coasters to work up our appetite to take as many snack breaks as we can. While Disneyland is our home away from home, we love trying to make a Walt Disney World Resort vacation happen at least once a year now too. All my friends know I'm the go-to for Disney advice, so I'm here to help you plan and experience the magic on your visit! Learn More About Carrie
