Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, Olivia, and welcome to planDisney! Disney's Dixie Landings Resort was where my husband and I stayed on our first
Walt Disney World Resort visit decades ago. I bet I can even find a zip-a-dee-ay mug in the back of my pantry if I look hard enough. Let's see what we can discover about the mugs your grandmother has.
I spoke to a bluebird of a Cast Member named Suzie who told me that since the technology has changed at the resort drink stations, your mugs won't contain the chip that activates the machines. Also, I'd like to point out that the current policy for mugs is that they offer free refills for the length of stay only.
Suzie suggested you bring along the old mugs and explain to a resort Cast Member that they were purchased with the understanding that they would have unlimited refills. There's no guarantee they will have a solution or idea, but it never hurts to ask. My tip is to have the mugs with you so you can ask at the front desk when you arrive.
No matter the outcome, you can take some fun photos with those mugs. I bet they're Instagram-worthy!
If you've purchased a vacation package that bundles your upcoming resort stay and theme park tickets, you will get a new mug included in your package. You could use the new mug to activate the refill machines but then transfer your beverage to the old mugs for fun.
Did you know that
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside is dog-friendly? It's one of a few Disney Resort Hotels that will
welcome your canine companions. Be sure to call
Disney Resort Hotel Reservations for more details or book a stay for your pup.
Olivia, I'm sending plenty of sunshine your way so your upcoming visit is "satisfactual." Please stop by
planDisney anytime.
Magic awaits,
Elaine
