    It's our granddaughters 5th Bday and we are staying off the resort We have reservations for Chef Mickeys( early).Do we park at Magic Kingdom and take the monorail to the Con. Hotel or do we go right to the hotel and then back to Magic Kingdoms parking lot?

    Hey JoAnn, Welcome to the Mom's Panel! What a great question!  Chef Mickey's is our family's favorite Character DIning Experience and may I say a great place to celebrate your granddaughter's fifth birthday! How fun is that to start her special day dining with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Donald Duck!  You really can park at either location for the character breakfast. I know you mentioned that you have an early advanced dining reservation. As you approach the ticket booths for the Magic Kingdom parking lot, you will need to get in the right hand lane to drive to Disney's Contemporary Resort. Because this is also where you would pay your parking fee for the Magic Kingdom, you will know if the Magic Kingdom parking lot has opened for the day. The parking lot usually opens at least one hour prior to park opening. If the parking lot has opened and you have ample time, then I would go ahead and park at the Magic Kingdom parking lot and then take the monorail to the Contemporary Resort from the Ticket and Transportation Center. This will allow you to go straight to the Magic Kingdom after breakfast. Your fastest route to the Magic Kingdom will be by walking from the Contemporary Resort. It is a short 10 minute walk to the Magic Kingdom gate from the Contemporary Resort. With that being said, if you all are pushed for time and afraid of being late for your advanced dining reservation at Chef Mickey's, then I would drive straight to the Contemporary Resort and then move your car after breakfast.
