My granddaughter is 16, autistic and has cerebral palsy. What can we do so she doesn’t have to wait in long lines? Can she do the princess dress up? How do we set that up? We will also have her brother who is 8 with us.

    Hi there, Christine!

I'm absolutely delighted to welcome you to the most magical panel on Earth...planDisney! How wonderful that you're planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation with your grandchildren. My mom always says grandchildren are life's greatest joy, and I have a feeling you'd agree. Experiencing the magic through their eyes is truly something special, and I'm so excited for you to create these unforgettable memories together.

Disney really goes to infinity and beyond to ensure Guests of all abilities can enjoy the parks, which is one of the many reasons my family returns year after year. They offer a variety of thoughtful services and resources designed to make your visit as smooth and magical as possible.

One of these options is Disability Access Service (DAS), created for Guests with developmental disabilities who may find it difficult to wait in traditional standby lines for extended periods. I would encourage you to apply for DAS for your granddaughter. Up to 60 days before your park visit, you can connect with a Cast Member through a live video chat. Just a heads up, your granddaughter will need to be present during this conversation, and everyone in your travel party should be linked through your Family & Friends List in your My Disney Experience account. During the call, the Cast Member will take time to understand her individual needs and help arrange the best accommodations to ensure she has the best experience possible.

I completely understand your granddaughter's excitement about Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Honestly, I'd love to do it myself! Unfortunately, guidelines require Guests to be between 3 and 12 years old to participate. While that's definitely a Bibbidi Bobbidi bummer, I have a couple of ideas to help her feel like royalty.

My panelist pal Jennifer suggests doing a quick online search for magical makeovers, which you'll find licensed cosmetologists who can come right to your Disney Resort for an in-room makeover. Another option is stopping by Sir Mickey's in Fantasyland for complimentary pixie dusting...a sprinkle of shimmering glitter that adds the perfect touch of magic to her day!

Your grandson could choose the Knight Package at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. My nephew did this last year, and it was such a special experience. Afterward, he headed straight to try pulling the Sword in the Stone near Prince Charming Regal Carrousel. Definitely keep your camera handy...those photos are priceless!

Christine, I hope this has helped as you continue planning your vacation. If any other questions come up, you're always welcome here at planDisney!

    Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust,
