Hi Laura, and welcome back to planDisney! The Christmas season is my favorite time to visit Disney World since the theme parks and resort hotels are decked out in sparkling holiday decorations.
My family often vacations at Disney World in December and the
Grand Floridian is always one of our must-dos to see the beautiful Christmas tree and impressive gingerbread house. Now, this year will look a little different as the resort gets ready for exciting updates to the lobby.
Unfortunately the gingerbread house we all know and love won’t be making an appearance during the 2025 holiday season. There’s no official word on the Christmas tree yet, but Disney still plans to have holiday touches throughout the resort and will share more details later this year. Keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for information on seasonal decorations and foodie guides as we get closer to the holidays. In the meantime, check out their
sneak peek of the resort’s refurbished lobby, including a new bar inspired by the iconic Victorian birdcage!
All that said, the Grand Floridian isn’t the only stop on my family’s holiday resort hotel crawl! There are many other amazing Christmas trees and gingerbread displays to see. My two favorite Christmas trees can be found at
Wilderness Lodge, which feels extra cozy with the fireplace in the background, and
Animal Kingdom Lodge, which also has a display of gingerbread animals inspired by the savanna outside. When I was there last December, they even had a craft in the lobby where you could make a Christmas ornament out of ostrich egg shells to raise money for the
Disney Conservation Fund!
And my all-time favorite gingerbread display is over at
Beach Club Resort where you can see a rotating gingerbread carousel! It has a different theme every year and there’s usually a stand selling holiday treats nearby—perfect for getting in the holiday spirit! Other resort hotels that usually have gingerbread displays include the
Contemporary and
BoardWalk Inn. And while you’re in the EPCOT resort area, be sure to stop by the
Yacht Club Resort to see their little holiday village complete with a model train!
One last recommendation if you love Christmas trees.
Disney Springs usually has a
Christmas Tree Stroll during the holiday season. My family always has a lot of fun exploring Disney Springs and hunting for the different themed trees.
I’m wishing you a wonderful visit to Disney World during this extra magical time of year! And if you have any other questions, we’d love to have you back at planDisney.
