We are going to the Grand Caymen in December 2015. We are not interested in doing any excursions at this time. Is there a beach and shopping within walking distance( we have a 4&7 year old) or will we have to take a taxi or bus? Thank you.

Ahoy, Stephen!

The port of George Town, Grand Cayman is one of my favorites. While it is possible to walk to Seven Mile Beach, it is somewhat precarious and I would not recommend trying it with your small children. Taking a taxi should only cost you about $5 per person. You might consider working out a time for your taxi driver to return for you later in the day. We had good luck with this when we cruised to Antigua.

If you change your mind about trying a Port Adventure, consider the Grand Cayman Island Tour, which goes to the Cayman Islands Turtle Farm. This is a fun place for children to visit. They can view sea turtles of all sizes, and maybe even get to touch and hold a few!
