Good Morning All: Two part question. We are planning a trip to Disney Jan2 to Jan8th. ANythoughts on time of year, weather and we have heard that some of the rides are closes? We want to take our 5yr old. Too young to understand?

    Hi Ron!

I think you've picked a great time of year to visit! Our family loves to visit when the Florida weather has cooled off from its summer high's and the crowds have diminished from their Christmas peak. During the day, the weather usually warm and evenings a bit cooler (jeans and light jacket weather). We've often used the resort pools at this time of year too.

A few of the water rides do start closing in early January. For example, the current schedule calls for Splash Mountain and Kali River Rapids to be under refurbishment starting on January 3rd. Typically, during the winter months, only one water park will be in operation at a time, as well. BUT, these few closures aren't really out of the normal. Rides will periodically undergo refurbishment for cleaning and sprucing up. This keeps them in top shape for the year to come!

5-yrs old is a perfect age! At this age, kids are old enough to enjoy the characters, they love the rides AND the parks are still magical. They can really enjoy the special touches at the Walt Disney World parks with amazement and wonder!

Hope you have a great vacation!
