Would it be a good idea to give kids 9 and 7 their own backpacks to keep their snacks, water, games for when in line, etc? Or would they not like carrying that around at the parks? Would they forget it on the rides? I don't really like fanny packs.

    Hi Robin ,

The old dreaded bag question. I would love from my boys to carry their own backpacks with them into the parks. It would be a lot lighter for me and I would not need to stop and dig things out for them quite as often.

We have tried this approach a few times, even with the warning of...if you take it with you, you are carrying it  yourself. Guess what, I always end up with it at some point and then I have multiple backpacks instead of one. If you think your kids would be willing to carry it around all day, I say go for it. Pack it with some sunscreen, their hat, a water bottle and whatever else they might need, It should be relatively easy to help remind them to grab it from an attraction or show as it is usually at their feet. The harder thing is their willingness to actually carry it. Remember those are long hot days and the kids do tend to wear out at points. The extra weight of the bag is something they will need to contend with, when they are tired. You know your kids the best, is that something they will do, or is it just an added piece to a crabby, exhausted child. Honestly to listen to my child complain about carrying it as the day wears on, is something I can do without, so I have found it worked best for us if I am the designated bag carrier.

    Happy toting!
