Ahoy there, Carol! Welcome aboard, and thank you for your question.
I want to start by saying that
Disney Cruise Line is constantly monitoring global health situations, so while you are still weeks away from your upcoming August cruise, it may be helpful to keep an eye on the
Know Before You Go section of the website, just in case any of the information I provide changes between now and when you set sail on your high seas adventure. I want you to be ready to
board your ship, no matter what!
Currently, the tests you can take prior to embarkation day have to be either the PCR or the NAAT test. These tests can be done via telehealth service, as long as your test is proctored and they can provide digital test results to be uploaded to Safe Passage. Disney Cruise Line recommends Inspire Diagnostics, but you can purchase your test from any third-party vendor that meets these requirements.
You may be able to order tests to be delivered to you at home before you leave, or you can also arrange to have them delivered to your
Disney Resorts Collection Hotel if you'll be staying there before your cruise. In my opinion, I prefer to do the test in advance. If you go to the port for testing, and someone tests positive, your whole party will be denied boarding. If you test in advance, you save yourself the trip to the port if you have a positive test, and you can avoid an anxious wait at the cruise terminal. I will say, however, it's easy and convenient to test at the port.
I hope this helps your planning, Carol!
