Good evening, I would like to plan a five-day vacation this November for my wife, our two-year-old daughter, four grandparents, and me. I will need to fly two of the grandparents in from PA. Is there an on-site planner I could work with to design the trip?

    Hey pal,

Welcome to planDisney! Thanks for stopping by with this question about your future Walt Disney World visit. Planning a multi-generational Disney vacation is really the bee’s knees to me. I really love the fact that I get to see the same people who took little Sakinah on her first Disney World visit (my mom and aunt) enjoy visits today with my children and bonus children. That said, I fully realize that planning larger group trips are not for the weak! Here at planDisney there are no professional planners, just Disney guests like you who visit often and have learned many of the tricks that make for a great vacation. I’ll share a few tips I’d give you as you start to plan your visit

First, figure out where to stay. Will one room be required, or are you willing to stay in different rooms? Most 2-bedroom villas will sleep 7 comfortably, so if you need to stay together in one space Deluxe Villas are the way to go. These rooms include in-room laundry and full kitchens in most cases, so your stay will have “home away from home” vibes which I love. Once you decide where to stay, think about how many park days you need. With a little one plus two sets of grandparents coming, consider building in a few resort days to relax between your park days. Before you purchase anything, take a look at the Special Offers page. Disney’s current deals can be found here, and if your dates are flexible you can often save on your visit. You might also find the Ticket Buying Guide helpful while you make decisions.

Next, think about whether you’ll want to purchase extras for your trip. Lightning Lane Passes allow guests to bypass the traditional standby line while Disney’s Enchanting Extras Collection has a ton of memory-making options for you to choose from like Fishing Excursions and Pony Rides. Additionally, consider adding the Memory Maker package which allows you to download unlimited Photo Pass photos from your visit. My family never skips this add-on; we love the fact that we can all be in the photos together.

I realize that this might be a lot, especially if this is your first time planning a Disney vacation, but I have faith that you can do this! However, if you truly want to pass the baton to someone else to do the planning for you, a quick internet search for “Disney Authorized Travel Planners” should deliver you to a robust list of planners. Be sure to look for their “Earmarked” status - independent planners who have been authorized by Disney will have a logo on their site highlighting this Earmarked status and will offer their services to you at no cost.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any additional planning questions, please be sure to stop by planDisney again. In the meantime, TTFN… ta-ta for now!
