Good Afternoon- We will be visiting DW Sept 2013 and will celebrate my 3year old birthday on our first day. Need some suggestions on how to make his day special at MK? It will be his birthday and first visit.

Hello, Laura and welcome to the Moms Panel! Celebrating a birthday at Walt Disney World is always special - and a first visit makes it that much extra special! I'm sure this will be a birthday filled with magical memories for your family!

First off, be sure to pick up "Happy Birthday" and "My First Visit" buttons at Guest Relations when you arrive at the Magic Kingdom. Your son will get lots of attention - and personal birthday wishes - from Disney Cast Members throughout the theme park! If your son has a favorite Disney character, check out the Times Guide (you'll find them, along with the park maps, in the "tunnel" passages under the Railroad Station just beyond the park entrance). The Times Guide will list the locations and times of all the character meet-and-greets in the park. Snapping a photo (or two!) of the birthday boy with his fave character will make for a very magical birthday memory.

My family loves to celebrate birthdays at our favorite Character Dining spots. When my daughter turned 4, we made a reservation for dinner at the Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom. One of her favorite Disney characters is Eeyore, so she was delighted to frolic with Winnie the Pooh and his friends as they each came to visit us at our table. The Crystal Palace offers a buffet with lots of tasty choices - and some very scrumptious desserts, too. You can book your dining reservations starting 180 days prior to your vacation. To make a reservation, call 407-WDW-DINE (407-939-3463).

Since birthdays are special days and only come around once each year, you might want to head over to the Big Top Souvenirs tent in Storybook Circus (near Dumbo) and let your son pick out a freshly made character-themed cupcake or other tasty treat to top off his big day!

I'd love to answer any other questions you have as your magical celebration draws nearer!
