Hi there, Phuong! Welcome to planDisney.
I'm so excited to hear that you're so close to your magical vacation at
Walt Disney World Resort! But oh, bother – I'm sorry to hear that there's rain in the forecast. The weather in Orlando can be fickle with afternoon showers being a common occurrence, especially during the stormy season of June through September. It will be difficult to plan a trip where you're guaranteed to not expect rain! In fact, on my most recent trip this past May, we were scheduled to have sunny skies for the length of our trip. I was so excited! However, the last four days ended up being very rainy from the afternoon well into the night. At first, I was feeling a little disappointed – I was worried that it would change all of the plans I had made and was looking forward to. Thankfully, we ended up having a better time than we could have ever expected! The rain cleared out a lot of the crowds, leaving the parks fairly empty. We got some amazing photos in front of
Cinderella Castle with no one else in the picture! Also, we made sure to come prepared with ponchos, sandals (or Crocs), and umbrellas so we didn't miss a minute of the magic. There's nothing like splashing through puddles on your way to explore
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge or hop on
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind!
Phuong, I've heard it said that a rainy day in Walt Disney World Resort is better than a sunny day anywhere else, and I couldn't agree more. However, if you're looking to see what options are available for you and your current reservation, my best piece of advice would be to
call a Cast Member. Since your trip is only a couple of days away, there are no guarantees that a change can be made, but they will be happy to hear about your situation and help in any way they can.
If you're looking for ways to make the most out of a rainy day at Walt Disney World Resort, I have a few tips for you!
- Be prepared and keep going! Bring a poncho, waterproof shoes, and a light layer. You could even bring a resealable plastic bag to keep items like your phone dry! This will make sure that no amount of rain will stand in the way between you and a magical trip.
- If you need a break from the rain, head inside for a dining reservation. You can use the My Disney Experience app to see if there are any same-day reservations available, or you could use the Walk-Up List feature! Just tap the plus sign + on the bottom of your screen, then tap Check Dining Availability.
- Head towards an indoor show! Consider Mickey's PhilharMagic in Magic Kingdom Park, Muppet*Vision 3D in Disney's Hollywood Studios, or Festival of the Lion King in Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
I hope I was able to point you in the right direction today, Phuong! If you have any other questions, please visit us again.
See ya real soon!
