Good afternoon, my family and I are planning a trip to Aulani for July 2020. I have physical disabilities Does Aulani have electric motor vehicles to rent like at Walt Disney world? Also looking for any advice on managing Aulani with limited mobility.

    Aloha Tina!

I can’t think of a better way to start the new year than by planning a summer vacation, and Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa is a perfect choice! I am also in the planning stages of a visit to Aulani this summer, and the entire family is looking forward to our second visit to this amazing vacation destination.

Currently, Aulani does not have motorized mobility scooters available to rent on-site. There are quite a few independent companies located on Oahu that are accustomed to working with visitors and offer delivery to hotels. Just be careful in your searching as "motorized scooters" in Hawaii tends to also yield for 2 wheeled motorbikes! Alternately, if you have a scooter from home, or you want to rent one at home and bring it with you, the airlines will check it for you with no additional fees as it is a mobility device. This would allow you to use it at the airport and may make your journey to Oahu more convenient.

Since Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa was is a relatively new resort, everything was built to be ADA compliant. There are accessible rooms available for booking in advance. If you would like or need one of these rooms, contact your booking agent to be sure this is what you have a reservation for. Aulani does have complimentary beach wheelchairs that have traditionally been available on a first-come, first-served basis at Makiki Joe’s Beach Equipment. However, in the world of Covid-19 we are living in, things like this are always subject to change due to safety concerns. If the pool is more your style, there is both a zero entry area and a pool lift available.

I think you will find the resort to be easy to navigate on a scooter. The main level contains check-in and shopping, and the ground level is easily accessible by elevator. On the ground level, you’ll find dining, activities, the pool area, and beach access. Once on the ground level, I could spend the entire day out in the pool area and never want or need to venture anywhere else! Give me a seat by the pool, a lovely lunch of coconut shrimp from Mama's Snack Stop, an afternoon Mickey shaped shave ice from Papalua Shave Ice, and live music in the evening at The ‘Olelo Room, and you have the perfect Hawaiian Disney day!

I hope this helps with your planning, Tina. You may also find Aulani's free travel brochure helpful. Please let me know if you have any additional questions as you get ready for your exciting Hawaiian adventure. I know I cannot wait to watch the summer sunset from Aulani!
