Hi Michael,
It sounds like you have an incredible Walt Disney World Resort vacation upcoming!
I am a self-professed "Queen of the Split-Stay" because I love enjoying two vacations in one. Each Walt Disney World Resort Hotel offers such a different experience. You are about to experience that as you share your morning coffee with some interesting animal friends in the morning, and drift off to sleep surrounded by the periwinkle-colored sights of the Florida Keys that night. Where else but Walt Disney World Resort?
Of course, when traveling in world-class accommodations, it couldn't get any easier! When you are ready to depart Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, ring for Bell Services to meet you up in your room. You can hand off your luggage then and it will magically appear at the Bell Services stand at Disney's Old Key West Resort.
Provided that your theme park tickets are linked to your My Disney Experience account, you can begin your adventure the day you arrive on property. Please keep in mind that your tickets will expire 14-days from first use, even if they have "Days" left. You Disney Dining Plan entitlements, however, will not activate until you are checked-in at Disney's Old Key West Resort. So you will want to pop over early in the day.
If you are not traveling with a vehicle, I have a recommendation for a smooth second morning. When you are ready to leave Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge, I would head over to Disney Springs for breakfast at
Earl Of Sandwich. This is one of my favorite Quick-Service locations for it's tasty treats, and great location. Then, you can hop on a Disney Vacation Club Water Taxi for a relaxing ride to Disney's Old Key West Resort. Check-in, and head out for another Pixie Dusted Disney Day.
Wishing you many magical memories,
Sally
