Welcome to planDisney, Mary Ann!
Your question brought back a flood of memories of my first visit to Walt Disney World Resort, back in -- well, let's just say a very long time ago! My family enjoyed lunch at the Top of the World restaurant at
Disney's Contemporary Resort. I remember it was lunch and not dinner because at that time men were required to wear jackets to dinner, and my dad hadn't packed his sportcoat. How times have changed!
Although the Top of the World restaurant closed many years ago, Guests can still dine with a view of
Disney Enchantment which recently debuted for
The World's Most Magical Celebration. The restaurant now occupying the former location of Top of the World is
California Grill, a signature dining location serving exquisite cuisine. As I'm sure you can imagine, a
dining reservation that coincides with fireworks time is tricky to obtain. However, Guests who dine earlier in the evening may return later with their receipt to the fireworks viewing platform. (Subject to availability.)
A very special opportunity to view fireworks would be
Celebration at the Top: 50th Flavors & Fireworks at Disney's Contemporary Resort. This fireworks viewing party takes place in a private room adjacent to California Grill and features small plates, cocktails, and desserts as well as a private viewing balcony.
When
Bay Lake Tower, a Disney Vacation Club Resort, was added near Disney's Contemporary Resort, Top of the World Lounge was named in homage to the former restaurant. This members-only lounge is temporarily unavailable at this time.
Mary Ann, please stop by planDisney again with any additional questions you may have as you plan your visit. We are always happy to help.
