Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Leslie!
It sounds like you'll be either staying at the
Contemporary Resort for a fabulous Disney vacation, or perhaps you're just enjoying a breakfast with Mickey and his pals there at Chef Mickey's before you head to Animal Kingdom for the day. Either way, the Contemporary is a fun resort to explore and my kids think it's especially amazing that the
Resort Monorail runs
right through the building itself!
The Monorail from the Contemporary can take you to Magic Kingdom, or to Epcot (with a quick transfer at the Ticketing and Transportation Center to the Epcot Monorail), but unfortunately doesn't go to Animal Kingdom or Hollywood Studios. The good news, however, is that you'll be able to easily hop over to
Animal Kingdom by taking one of the buses right from the Contemporary that goes directly to Animal Kingdom. Just head down to the bus stops outside the resort and look for the one marked Animal Kingdom. Within a few minutes, the bus will arrive and off you'll go.
I do recommend a ride on the Monorail, whether or not you're actually taking it to get somewhere, like Magic Kingdom, or just for fun. It's part of the magic of the Disney experience for my kids, so no matter where we're staying, we always make it a point to ride a loop on the Monorail, sometimes just hopping off at the Contemporary, the Polynesian, or the Grand Floridian to explore the lobbies and shops, and then back on to finish the loop. It's a fun thing to do in the middle of a day at Magic Kingdom to get out of the hustle and bustle of the park for a bit.
Have a magical adventure, Leslie!
