Hiya Elizabeth, welcome to planDisney! What an incredible time you're going to have at
Disney Contemporary Resort in just a few short days. This "monorail loop" resort is a classic and fan favorite for very good reason. Let's take a look at some of the amenities you can expect during your magical stay!
First, monorail transportation does not actually run 24/7. The Resort Monorail and Express Monorail begin operating 30 minutes prior to when Magic Kingdom park opens, and end one hour after Magic Kingdom park closes. One cool feature of staying at the Contemporary though, is that you can easily take a short 5-minute walk to Magic Kingdom. So that's a nice back-up option to have.
Check out this link for some pixie-dusted
entertainment options offered at Contemporary Resort. If you'll have time to relax for a pool day, you may want to look into
renting a poolside cabana? There's also complementary activities like
Movies Under the Stars and roasting marshmallows at the
evening Contemporary Campfire (s'mores kits often available for purchase).
You'll find a
couple of pool options, both a quiet leisure pool and a larger feature pool with a waterslide. Both are beautiful, and are located alongside a white sandy beach with marina views. If you've got young ones in your party... often during the day, there are Cast Members leading fun poolside games and activities. Believe me, they create such a terrific environment that it's probably why my kids are always wanting to "go back to the hotel and swim"!
I'm not sure if there are specific things you were looking for, but here's a nice list of
Contemporary Resort amenities. Stack this alongside the other
benefits of staying at a Disney Resort, like 30-minute Early Theme Park Entry every day. And because you're staying at a Deluxe Resort, you'll also receive
extended evening hours. Check the park calendar to see which theme park will be hosting this during your stay.
If you don't mind a spoiler, one thing I love to do when deciding on a new-to-me Disney Resort reservation is searching YouTube for resort overview videos. It's my guilty pleasure, and gives an exciting visual tour of what to expect.
Before I go, I'd like to share my two favorite things to do at the Contemporary Resort. The first is grabbing a morning cappuccino at the
Contemporary Grounds coffee shop in the lobby... with a Mickey Mouse sprinkle design, of course! And the second is dining with my family at Chef Mickey's on our arrival night. Often we don't have park tickets for that first day, so this starts things off right with some magic by hugging our favorite characters! Or for a quieter and more elegant evening, California Grill on the top floor is delicious and offers views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks at night.
I hope this helps, Elizabeth! I'll be sending pixie dust for you to have a wonderful vacation!! Please let me know if I can answer any other questions.
See ya' real soon!
