Hi Alyssa,
Welcome to planDisney! We are also a food allergy family so I completely understand the struggle of navigating travel while also having to worry about what my family members will be able to eat. Luckily, Disney World does a fabulous job of helping you stay safe and enjoy a delicious meal while you visit. No matter where you are dining at Disney World, alert them to your dietary restrictions before ordering, and they will ensure your food is prepared in a safe environment.
Most table-service dining locations and several quick-service restaurants will have common allergens like eggs, fish, milk, nuts, seafood, and wheat listed on the menu to help you navigate which items are safe to eat. For anyone who has less common food allergies or has multiple allergies, Disney World has a process for
Special Dietary Requests. Since some of the items you mentioned are less common allergens and not on the published ingredients list, the best course of action would be to contact Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com ahead of your visit. They will be able to help confirm ingredients for specific items and ensure that there are food options for you that are safe throughout your visit. They typically recommend contacting them 14 days before your arrival so they can provide the restaurants you plan to visit with advance notice.
When you confirm the ingredients list with the special diets team, be prepared with which restaurants you plan to dine at. Even though a lot of restaurants will serve similar basic items, they may not always be exactly the same or have the same ingredient list. Navigating travel with allergies takes another level of planning but luckily Disney World has some great resources available on their online menus to help you get ready. While looking at any of the
online menus, scroll to the bottom for a section of the menu that lists each food item and who can safely eat it.
Our favorite gluten-free dining experience at Magic Kingdom is at
Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen. The food is delicious and almost the entire menu is naturally gluten-free. They have Brazilian cheese bread made from tapioca flour so it should be good for you to eat and is one of my favorite snacks at Disney World.
Happy Planning,
Jenna
