We are giving our miracle twins a trip to DW for their 10th birthday Oct 2 and will be telling them at the family party on Sept 28 and are arriving on Oct 20th. Any suggestions on how to "wrap" the gift. We are staying at AKL. It is a first trip

    Lori,

I am in the middle of preparing a similar "surprise" for my kids for a trip to Walt Disney World on October 2 as well!

So I like to start with a video. I use a website called Animoto where I create a video 'invitation' made from pictures from our past vacations. It does not matter if they are pictures from a Walt Disney World vacation or not.

Another option is to give them a box to open with something from the parks inside. The online Disney Store website has some park items available. If they are still into the characters and you think they will want to get autographs, an autograph book is a PERFECT choice. You could also get some of the youth-oriented books from Celebrations Press. These are not OFFICIAL books, but the Guide to the Magic for Kids book is a great read for them to get extra excited. I got a pair of those, as each kid needs their own, to be sure!

The only other thing that immediately comes to mind is this. It takes a bit of work, but it could well be worth it, if you have the time.

Since you are staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, you could send them on a safari-themed treasure hunt through the house. Leave clues for them to follow from one room to the other. Have them wear safari pith helmets that you can get at hobby stores. Let the "treasure" they discover be the gift of the books or the video.

Write me back if you want more ideas, but I like the safari treasure hunt idea best of all!

    Have a magical vacation!
