Can I give goodie bags filled with candy/snacks as a thank you to drivers and cast members?

    Howdy, Vanessa!

Cast Members are so special and are the true magic in helping create our special memories at the Walt Disney World Resort. I love that you want to honor them with a special thank you on your next vacation.

I confirmed that Cast Members are not allowed to accept gifts (especially food) from any Guest, as a security precaution. While your idea of candy or snacks is well intentioned, this policy is in place to protect their employees and ensure that everyone (Guests and Cast Members alike) has a consistent, safe experience in the theme parks, resorts, and on Disney transportation.

You can still honor special Cast Members in a variety of appropriate ways, Vanessa. Many roles around the Walt Disney World Resort accept tips; please see this answer I gave another Guest which details those roles and how you could recognize great service with gratuity.

A handy, official way to recognize Cast Members who make your trip extra magical is to send a Mobile Cast Compliment using the My Disney Experience App. This allows you to submit an indication of their great work on a special form that will be routed internally to the Cast Member and their leadership team. Be sure to take note of an individual’s name and where they are from (indicated on their name tag) so that you can enter these details with the compliment. Find this feature in the My Disney Experience App by clicking on the main menu and then scrolling down to Cast Compliment. You’ll find the easy-to-use form to send magic to a Cast Member right at your fingertips!

While this isn’t the news you were likely hoping for, I hope knowing in advance that Cast Members cannot accept treats saves you some time in preparing these gifts and packing them for your vacation. A kind word goes a long way, so I try to be generous with my words as well as tipping when appropriate and sending Cast Compliments on my own trips to recognize the hard work and special moments this magical team gives to my family.

Please let us know if you have other questions as you prepare for your special vacation – we'd love to help!
