Hi, my girlfriend is a huge Star Wars fan and we’re planning a trip to Disney here in a couple months. I also plan on asking the big question at Galaxy’s Edge, but I was wondering if the cast members could help out and be apart of it in someway?

    Hello there, Seth!

I also married a huge Star Wars fan and although I now know way more characters from the galaxy than I ever imagined, it was the best decision of my life. I am so excited that you are planning a magical proposal for her in Galaxy's Edge and thought to drop by planDisney for help.

There is a new experience that just launched called Capture the Moment: Disney's Hollywood Studios - Batuu. This would be a wonderful way to ensure you get professional pictures of the moment that you pop the question. Up to 60 days in advance of your trip, you can book a 20-minute time slot with a Disney PhotoPass photographer and pick an enchanting backdrop like the Millennium Falcon or Blackspire Outpost for a photo shoot. Props are welcome and sometimes they even have some lightsabers for you to use in the photos. Since you will have 20 minutes of their undivided attention, they will be able to help you make sure that you get photos of the perfect moment in the perfect location!

The great thing about Galaxy's Edge is that there are always characters walking around and interacting with guests so you may be able to catch Chewbacca or Stormtroopers for some photographs as well but unfortunately, character experiences can not be guaranteed. I would also stop by Guest Services or the front desk of your resort ahead of time and get Celebration Buttons with the words "Just Engaged" written on them so that you all can wear them afterward. You will be greeted with congratulations from cast members, guests, and characters throughout the theme parks for the rest of your trip!

To top off the momentous occasion there are a few ways you could celebrate afterwards. One of my favorite ways to celebrate is on a Fireworks Cruise. Several Disney resort locations have private boats you can charter to watch the fireworks and cruise around with drinks, snacks, and festive decorations included. You can call ahead to arrange this experience and they are fabulous at working with you to make it the ultimate moment!

If you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel, there is also a service called In Room Floral and Gifts where they can organize a surprise for you in your room while you are out at the parks. They offer decorations, floral arrangements, balloons, and snack boxes. Another option is to order a specialty cake to be delivered to your dining location that evening emblazoned with Congratulations or May the Force Be With You! These cakes are to die for and I try to find every occasion possible to order them.

Don't fret if she starts to suspect something when you head to a photo shoot because like Han Solo famously said, "Women always figure out the truth. Always."

    Happy Planning
    Jenna
