Kevin, you can
reserve your choice of poolside comfort through the hotel directly ahead of time, and I encourage this as availability is limited. There is no need for your friend to book through DVC services. You can contact Guest Services at (714) 635-2300 and select option “9,” or visit the Guest Services desk inside the hotel to book your cabana or pod.
Per the Disneyland website, that phone number is for advanced cabana rental reservations only; if you are trying for a same-day cabana rental, you will need to check on-site. Advanced cabana reservations have a 1-day cancellation policy - the adult full price will be charged if a Guest cancels within 1 day or no shows for the reservation. I hope this helps!
During check-in for your
Disneyland Hotel reservation, you will be asked to put a credit card on file for all incidentals. This card can be used to charge to your room at Tenaya Spa at the Grand Californian or other extras you book at your hotel.
I hope during your visit, you get to enjoy some of the
delectable onsite dining options like Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar and
Goofy's Kitchen. Both of these have a big atmosphere and are perfect for a memorable meal!
