Hi Laura,
Dining with several dietary restrictions can be daunting, but luckily, Disney World excels at accommodating all of your needs while on vacation. We are gluten-free and also worry about cross-contamination when we dine out. Every time we visit Disney World I am impressed with the seriousness they handle allergies with and how delicious the food is!
One of the things I love about dining at Disney World is that all of their menus will clearly state what common allergens are in each dish. When you look at a menu such as my favorite,
Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen, you will see a section labeled for allergies. On this menu, you will see that the "Tastes Like Chicken" Because it is! entree has Gluten/Wheat, Fish/Shellfish, Milk, Peanut/Tree Nut, and Sesame Allergies listed next to it. This means it is safe for those with both gluten and nut allergies. When you arrive at any sit-down restaurant at Disney World let them know you have allergies and the cast member will alert the chef. All of your items will come out with an allergy marker because they will have been prepared separately from all of the other meals in the kitchen.
When you are dining at a quick-service location, I recommend using
Mobile Food and Beverage Ordering in the
My Disney Experience app. To make a mobile order that will be allergy-friendly, simply click the + sign at the bottom center of the app. Then select "Order Food" navigate to the location you are ordering from and click "Begin Order." If the quick-service location can accommodate food allergies there will be a green triangle at the top of the menu labeled "Allergy Friendly." Click that icon and see all the available options for your specific allergies. My favorite quick-service location for allergy-friendly dining is
Columbia Harbour House in Magic Kingdom.
If you have concerns that you will not be able to find something that fits all of your dietary needs then you can
contact Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com before your visit to ensure that all of your dining choices can offer delicious options and make sure that everything is safe for them to eat.
Happy Planning,
Jenna
