Hi Meghan!
Thanks for bringing this question to planDisney!
I personally like to do both when it comes to checking into my Disney resort: online check-in through the My Disney Experience app or on
Disney’s website AND check-in at the front desk of my resort. I haven’t found a particular way of checking in being more beneficial than the other, but there are pros to both.
Checking in online not only amps up the excitement for an upcoming Disney trip, but for some resorts, it also allows you to easily put in any requests regarding room location. The requests aren’t guaranteed, but I always figure it’s worth it to ask if you have a preference.
If you’ve checked in online, you’ll be notified as soon as your room is ready. I love seeing that text pop up on my phone! Since you’ll be getting there after check-in time, you’ll likely have your room number before you arrive. In that case,
you’ll be able to go straight to your room and get settled right away.
If your room isn’t ready when you arrive or you have any
questions about your resort, that’s when I find checking in at the front desk comes in handy. Being able to chat with a Cast Member, get the lay of the land, and learn about any special things going on at the resort during your stay is always a nice way to start the trip.
Hopefully that helps! Feel free to ask us any other questions leading up to your trip!
