Getting ready to Cruise on the Disney Dream at the end of Oct. I normally take pictures now with my cell phone. Can you do that on the cruise? I'm worried about using data. Or is it best to bring a camera and use the camera instead? Thanks again

    Ahoy, Dee!

How exciting that your sailing on the Disney Dream is so close! With the new Disney Cruise Line Navigator App, your smartphone is set to airplane mode and then you log in to the Disney Cruise Line onboard DCL-GUEST WiFi. This way, you can use your phone for the app and your camera without being in danger of using data. Be sure to keep it on airplane mode for the duration of your cruise.

Our family loves the chat feature on the DCL Navigator App! We can talk to each other by texting, which everyone is used to. The old wave phones took forever to send texts!

You might consider purchasing a waterproof pouch for your phone. We found these for about $10 each, and they work great. Ours even have a floatation feature, which is great for when I'm laying in my inner tube on Castaway Cay!

If you have any questions about using your smartphone on the Dream, you can visit the onboard Tech Support desk, which is located next to the Disney Vacation Club desk on Deck 4. The cast  member at the tech desk was very helpful on our July cruise on the Dream.

Thank you for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your questions about your upcoming cruise! I hope you have a DREAMy vacation!

    Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
