Hi, I've been getting conflicting information about passports. One specialist told me that we do not need a passport to go off ship at ports (Bahama's, Mexico, Jamaica, Cayman Islands, ect), yet another told us we do. Can you please help?

    Ahoy, Misty!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! We are so glad you are hEAR! I can absolutely help you with your passport question and hope to clear up any questions you may have about required documentation. At this time, passports are strongly recommended, but not required for a cruise that leaves and returns to the same US port. For example, if you are going on a Caribbean cruise and are leaving from and returning to Miami, Galveston, New York or Port Canaveral, you can travel with an original birth certificate and an official government photo ID like a driver's license. The reason Disney Cruise recommends passports is because they are the only way a Guest can travel back to the United States by air in the event of an unlikely emergency. If an emergency happens while you are in one of the foreign ports of call and you want to leave the cruise, you will need a valid passport to fly home. My best advice is to learn about the benefits to having a passport to make the best decision for your family.
I hope I've steered you in the right direction, Misty! Please let us know if you have any other questions!
    Have a magical day!
