Hi, Kathy! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney!
First of all congratulations on the new
little Mouseketeer who will soon join your family! I can't think of a more magical place to celebrate this good news than the
Walt Disney World Resort. I love the idea of doing a gender reveal in
Magic Kingdom Park, and I'm sure this will become a core memory for you and your family.
On most days, weather permitting, you'll find Cast Members selling balloons on Main Street, U.S.A. in Magic Kingdom Park. I've often seen pink and blue Mickey balloons included in the balloon vendor's assortment, however, the selection of available balloons is always subject to change. I cannot say for certain what styles of balloons will be available on the day of your visit, so it might be a good idea to have a backup plan in case you can't find pink and blue balloons.
If you want to stick with your original balloon idea, perhaps you could make "It's a boy!" and "It's a girl!" cards before your visit. If a pink or blue balloon is not available, you could select another balloon and have the Cast Member tie the appropriate card onto the balloon for the big reveal. Another idea would be to visit the
Emporium to pick out a special souvenir. You could select two Mickey and Minnie Mouse plush toys or two baby outfits in pink and blue. When you go to the cash register, you can let the Cast Member in on the secret. They can then ring up the appropriate item and package it out of your view so that you can open it and be surprised by your gender reveal.
Kathy, when it comes time to return to Walt Disney World Resort with your new little one, be sure to take a look at our
planDisney Video Library. We've got lots of fun and informative videos about visiting The Most Magical Place on Earth with the littlest Guests. And of course, please feel free to
visit planDisney again with any additional questions you might have.
See ya real soon!
