G'day, Disney Moms! We are hoping to visit WDW in Sept. 2015. Dining plans are confusing me! What are they and do we need to have one? If we don't, can we still eat at restaurants? I have read info about them, but need it spelt out for me! Thanks so much!

    G'day Karen!

I love that you are already thinking about your Disney vacation! The Disney Dining Plan information can be confusing but let me see if I can make it simple.

The Disney Dining Plan is available to guests staying at a Disney Resort. The Disney Dining plan allows guests to pre-pay for their meals and there are choices as to the type and number of meals you would like a day. The least expensive meal is the Quick Service which has guests dining at counter service restaurants for each meal. The most expensive is Deluxe Dining which provides dining at table service meals. You can pick which plan meets your family's needs.

When I use the Disney Dining Plan, I take the basic plan. This provides guests a counter service, a table service and a snack each day of your stay.

As for eating in a Disney restaurant, you can eat in any Disney restaurant whether you are on the Disney Dining Plan or not. I highly encourage guests to make Advance Dining Reservations (ADRs) whether you are on the plan or not.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
