Hello Sulema!
Thank you for bringing your question to
planDisney! I can definitely relate to your conundrum, as I typically don't eat large meals. When I am at the parks, I opt to purchase smaller meals or snacks throughout the day, such as fresh fruit, vegetable cups, Mickey Pretzels, and salad.
Sharing meals works particularly well at quick-service locations, such as
Backlot Express at
Disney's Hollywood Studios,
Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe at
Magic Kingdom, and
Eight Spoon Cafe at
Animal Kingdom. My absolute favorite solution for small meals is dining around the World Showcase at EPCOT, especially during the
EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, which will be going on when you arrive on May 13! There are outdoor kitchens that offer small plates, which are perfect for smaller appetites. My personal favorite is the frushi at Hanami in the Japan Pavilion.
Sulema, you'll also find that many table-service restaurants, that offer menu items à la carte, are accomodating to special dietary requests, including sharing meals or ordering off the children's menu. The flexibility to do so depends upon the restaurant, as some may charge a small plate sharing fee, but you can ask your server when you arrive about their restaurant's policy.
However, sharing meals at all-you-care-to-eat restaurants, such as
Chef Mickey's, is not typically an option. Restaurants with a prix fixe menu and all-you-care-to-eat options (buffet or family-style) charge per person not per meal. Therefore, Chef Mickey's,
Liberty Tree Tavern,
Hollywood & Vine, and
Garden. Grill (just to name a few) do not offer meal-sharing options. I think you will love Chef Mickey's because the Fab Five (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, and Goofy) will be there greeting Guests!
If you are looking for table service restaurants with smaller portions and/or meal-sharing options, try
Coral Reef,
Flying Fish, or
Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano.
And don't forget that you can begin making your advanced dining reservations 60 days in
advance online or by calling 407-WDW-DINE!
I hope you have a magical vacation!
Magically,
Stacy
