Hello! I have a garlic, and onion sensitivity that causes me to be extremely ill if consumed. I have read tips about dining services, but am wondering if there is a way to obtain list of ingredients in quick service meals.

Hey, howdy, hey, Stephanie, and welcome to planDisney. Finding delicious and safe treats for my family to eat is one of our greatest challenges and adventures at Walt Disney World Resort. Having a family with multiple dietary restrictions requires researching menus and foods that will not upset our stomachs, while we are at the "Most Magical Place on Earth."

After years of visiting Mickey and the gang, Walt Disney World Resort does a fantastic job providing opportunities for people with many dietary requirements to eat. Here are my recommendations for you to get what you need.

    Quick Service Restaurants

    • Review the quick service menu items online or through the My Disney Experience App and create a list of those restaurants with the dishes you hope to enjoy.
    • Afterward, reach out to Special Diets (Special.Diets@DisneyWorld.com) at least a week before your visit. Explain your onion and garlic sensitivity in the email (or via phone but email is better due to the paper trail). Include the list of restaurants and dishes you hope to enjoy.  The Special Diets team will be able to tell you anything you need to know about the ingredients. You may also ask if there are any substitutions available at the location to help you enjoy your meal. I prefer email because it opens a direct line of communication.
    • If you choose a new quick service location on site then ask to speak with the chef. Don't be shy; they do this all the time. The chef has access to all the ingredients and, regularly, a binder with all the ingredients is presented to us for review. This binder is not found online and may not be available at all locations (it is put together by the dining team at each location). We follow a Kosher Diet and my son also needs a FODMAP (no garlic or onions) diet that has many restrictions so we ask a lot and have used the binder many many times.

    Table Service Reservations

    • If you are dining at a table service location then you can include in your online reservation or through the My Disney Experience App which allergies you have in the provided list. You may also reserve over the phone and have your allergy noted. Either way, you should contact Special Diets at least a week before noting your allergies.
    • Once you get to your table service reservation, you will be asked if you have any allergies and if you need to speak to the chef. The chef will offer modifications (if possible) to help you enjoy your meal.

planDisney Pro Tip: Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering is very convenient through the My Disney Experience Mobile App but guests with dietary restrictions need to research the dishes before using the service.

Stephanie, I hope this information helps you dine easily on Disney's delicious dishes and delicacies. Please feel free to write me back directly if you have any follow-up questions.

    Enjoy making many Magical Memories.
    ~Jason
