My friends and I will be in WDW for 4 days, but only 3 nights. What are the best nighttime shows? We won't be able to see all of them. One of our nights is July 4th.

    Chrissy,

    Thanks for your question!

The parks at night might be even more magical than they are during the daytime. The fireworks and projection shows are certainly a cornerstone of that magic.

While all of the shows have their own special appeal, it is a pretty easy choice for me. Since I don't know how many of those nights you can make it to a show, I will list them in order of preference.

    1. Happily Ever After or Disney’s Celebrate America! – A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky at the Magic Kingdom Park
    2. EPCOT Forever, at EPCOT
    3. Fantasmic! at Disney's Hollywood Studios
    4. Rivers of Light at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park
The show at the Magic Kingdom is an iconic experience, and simply has to be on the top of the list. If you have not been to Walt Disney World since you were a youngster, the evening entertainment also includes a projection show on the castle facade. This causes some notably large crowds, so make sure you stake out a good spot early. The projection technology is so vivid that it is well worth the effort. By the way, on both the 3rd and 4th the Magic Kingdom will be hosting an alternative show, Disney’s Celebrate America! – A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky. While that means that the crowds will be at peak capacity, if you are up for it the show is sure to be an over-the-top experience.

EPCOT has recently been changing their equally well known fireworks show that is held on the lagoon in the World Showcase section of the park. But regardless of what show might be going on, it is always a great spectacle. The fact that you can view it from such a large area surrounding the lagoon also makes it easier to find a good spot.

Fantasmic! is a neat show, and if you have kids focused on seeing characters, it might jump up on your preference list. It is also nice that it is a seated show, in an outdoor amphitheater.

Finally, Rivers of Light is an interesting show that departs from the typical formula for such entertainment. But it is easily the one you could save for a future trip.

Write me back and I would be glad to offer up some other suggestions on activities during your trip, or discuss some great dining choices.

    Have a Magical Vacation!
