My friend (has a 6 yr old) just got back from Disney and told me she had no idea about the pin trading, lanyards, or autographs that the kids participate in. Is there anything else they do? I just wondered before we go in July 20 2011.

    Hi Douglas,

There are so many fun and special things for your children to do while on vacation at the Walt Disney World Resorts. Here is a list of a few.

Some free things to do and collect are autographs with the characters. Grab an autograph book and a sharpie and take pictures with the characters and get their autographs. While in EPCOT, head to the KidCot stops in World Showcase and Future World. Here your children can create a mask and interact with cast members from around the world.

Some souvenirs that you can purchase which are fun are lanyards for pin trading. You purchase a pin and then you can trade them with cast members in the parks. My children loved this when they were little. We now collect as a family.

You can also collect vinylmation. This new collectibles are small Mickey Mouses with different designs painted on them. Like pins, they can be traded if you discover one you do not like or you have a double. This is because you never know which vinylmation you will receive until you open it. I love this!

You can also make your own mouse ears which is a fun treat! I would recommend you pick one of the collectibles to concentrate on during your trip.

    Have a magical vacation!
