My friend told me if you stay at a Disney resort you can use the pools at the other resorts. Is this true? - if so which pool would you recommended - kids are 5 and 7. How do you get from resort to resort?

Your friend is not correct. In most cases, using the pools at other resorts is not permitted. There are a few cases where "pool hopping" is allowed. These are:

    - Guests of the All Star resorts may use the other All Star pools.

    - Guests of Port Orleans Riverside may use the Port Orleans French Quarter pools and vice versa.

    - Guests whose resort pools are undergoing repair or refurbishment may be granted temporary pool rights at another resort.

    - Disney Vacation Club members staying at a DVC resort may use other WDW pools, but not at the Yacht & Beach Club or the Animal Kingdom Lodge and not during blackout dates.

Other than that, you'll need to stick with the pools at your own resort.

You are however, welcome to visit other resorts to dine, shop, or explore. To get from resort to resort using WDW transportation, you'll need to use a theme park or Downtown Disney as a transfer hub. Once you get the hang of it, it's quite easy. Just ask the front desk of your hotel for the quickest route.
