Welcome to planDisney, Kari! First of all, congratulations on signing up for the
Dopey Challenge. I felt like that registration process the other day was like a marathon in itself. Hopefully, the actual races will be a little less stressful! Since it's the 30th Anniversary of the
Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, this should be an extra fun event (I love the retro theme)!
I recommend visiting the runDisney website, so you can
join their mailing list to receive information and updates from them. Secondly, since your running buddy was the one who registered you, you'll need to ask him to send an email (and cc: you on the email) to runDisney@disneysports.com, giving permission to unlink the registrations. Please include the specific event and participant information in the email. You will be notified by email when the transfer is complete or if there are any questions regarding the request (see the
FAQ page for details). If that doesn't work, call them at (407) 939-iRUN or (407) 939-4786.
The one thing you won't be able to do is to link your race information to your
My Disney Experience account. However, you should be able to see your race registration in your runDisney account by visiting the website, going to the Help & Support tab, and then clicking Manage Account. If you haven't set up an account yet, you'll need to do so. As Marathon Weekend gets closer, you will get emails with instructions on signing waivers and picking up your bib at the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo.
The runDisney website is also a great resource if you want some ideas for Disney running playlists and
training plans. Many runners, including myself, swear by the Jeff Galloway method, and he has a program specifically tailored to the Dopey Challenge.
Good luck running those 48.6 magical miles, Kari! I hope to see you at the finish line!
